Because the dlc is based on Mario Kart Tour, tracks like Wii Coconut Mall and GBA Sky Garden gotten the short end of the stick. We should have gotten a proper sequel to Mario Kart 8 for the switch in a big scale like Smash Brothers Ultimate. I did not need to review every single city track. I’m glad they brought in the sucky ones first so that we could get the most out of the really good ones.

There is very little road driving and a lot of cool stuff, such as falling boulders and half pipes. Instead of trying to cram the whole city into a small track, Athens Dash takes a small area (the ruins) and runs with it to create the closest thing to a track that feels like it belongs to date. Has a bit of boring road driving but there’s enough going on to make up for it.Īthens. I’m not really a fan of this one (for some reason) but from a design standpoint, this is where the city tracks stop being uninteresting drives on roads and start being explorations of what Mario Kart in a city can be.īangkok: Great. Best part is the Berlin Wall and the Galaxy 2 Easter Egg with the Whomps. Music is out of the park but the track doesn’t live up to it. First is really well made and has potential in Wave 6. If the layout didn’t change with each lap it would rival Baby Park in awfulness. There’s a super cool shortcut in 2R but the Switch version wasn’t ported over in the same way as the others so we can’t use it. First variant hasn’t appeared since the New York Tour (the first one).

And by newer ones, I mean ones from 2022 onward because those are the only ones with interesting layouts. There’s a huge difference in quality between early city tracks and newer ones.
